While I'm trying to get the most for our money, I guess I'm pushing my son too hard in the process. I'm talking about letting him attend the Level 6 class in Gymboree, most of the kids there are turning 3 in a couple of months, and my son just turned 27 months yesterday. Although he participates very well in the gym part of the class, he didn't like sitting down alone with other kids during the reading part. He gets scared and then cries when he realizes I am not around anymore, while the other 'big' kids are sitting quietly. I feel like Mikey is disrupting the class whenever the teacher stops to pacify him. But if I'm there with him, he's perfectly OK, he listens and participates. It will defeat the purpose of teaching them to be independent if I'm always there. Anyway, he's still attending his original group and I think I might keep him there till he's ready to go up to Level 6. We have another month to enjoy the freebies from Gymboree so next time, if he wants to just play in the gym I'll just let him, I won't force him to go to the reading room anymore.
